Maldon & DistrictNeighbourhood Watch

Maldon District Council

Neighbourhood Watch is one of the biggest and most successful crime prevention initiatives in the country. Its main aim is to create a partnership between the local community, the police and the Local Authority. The message it promotes is simple, “unity in the face of crime makes communities safer”
Neighbourhood Watch started in the UK in 1982. There are now some 150,000 schemes running throughout the UK covering nearly five million households, which makes Neighbourhood Watch the largest voluntary movement in the country.
With more than ??? street coordinators currently working hard to raise awareness and cut crime Neighbourhood Watch in the Maldon District is thriving, but there is always room for additional members and in particular new Neighbourhood Watch Groups. Is there one in your locality? If not why not start one! It is all about working in partnership with the police and other Community Partner Agencies in order to prevent crime and create a safer environment in which to live, work and play. The scheme is undoubtedly instrumental in reducing crime, providing reassurance to residents in the locality and encourages a sense of community where you live.
